About Us

The Vintage & Classic Car Club – Ballarat was formed in 1966 to bring together persons with an interest in all Motor Vehicles built before 31st December, 1942 and other vehicles, of Special Interest, over 25 years old. Whilst in the early days our membership consisted largely of owners of older (Vintage and Pre-War) vehicles, we now find that a large percentage of our members are regularly attending events in vehicles over 25 years old. We cater for all cars and motorcycles regardless of country of origin or manufacturer.


In the early 1970’s the VCCC Begonia Rally began and it is still a major invitational event in February for the club with entrants coming from all over Victoria and interstate. Throughout its history the club has staged events in support of various charities by holding car shows displays and lunches.



In 2016 the club celebrated its 50th anniversary and continues to be a leader amongst motoring clubs.


Monthly Meetings

Monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Friday of each month (unless otherwise noted in the Newsletter) at our Clubrooms in Humffray Street South. Meetings commence at 8:00pm (7.30pm over Winter)and there is often a guest speaker, followed by supper.


There is at least one club run per month (usually the Sunday after the meeting) and a number of “special” runs throughout the year. “Special” runs include mid-week outings, twilight runs during daylight savings and other tours or weekends away as planned from time to time. Runs are usually to places of interest, or for a meal, and are regularly attended by a range of members from younger members with families through to retirees. There are also Naked Radiator, Classic Gadabout, V8 Muster, motorcycle and sports car runs.


Newsletter & Library

The Club publishes a monthly Newsletter, which is posted (or emailed) to reach members' the week before the meeting.



We also have a comprehensive library facility contained within the Clubrooms with an extensive collection of Workshop Manuals, Technical Books, Parts Catalogues, Magazines and other Motoring Books. Library materials are available for members to borrow for a period of two months at a time.

Annual Rallies

We also hold an invitation rally, the Begonia Rally, over three days in February each year with entrants from as far away as South Australia and NSW as well as a number of entrants from Melbourne and other parts of Victoria. We also have a Pre 30’s one day Tour in November for the early cars and motorcycles.


It is hoped that all members will at some time support their club by organising or assisting with outings, runs, rallies, luncheons, working bees or other events the club may have.


VicRoads Authorised Club

We are a VicRoads authorised Club under the Club Permit Scheme and vehicles on Club Permit are welcomed on all listed Club functions. We are also able to authorise the application for initial Club Permits should you wish to put vehicles into this scheme.
